An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a periodic inspection and test of the fixed electrical installation in a building — distribution boards, circuits, sockets, switches and protective devices. Commercial premises require an EICR every five years to demonstrate compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and most insurers and landlords now treat a current EICR as a condition of cover.
